Intent

At GGA we want our pupils to be competent, safe and discerning users and consumers of technology.

We aim to equip children with the skills to use a range of technology in order to prepare them for further education and workplaces of the future whilst ensuring they can navigate the perils of the online world.

Implementation

Pupils are provided with access to a range of technology including iPads and chromebooks. Pupils become proficient in using these devices to access a range of software as well as the internet.

We teach pupils to code from an early age with pupils engaging in more

sophisticated coding languages and de-bugging as their skills levels increase.

Online safety is paramount and is woven into our curriculum. Pupils are taught how to keep themselves safe online and how to make informed choices regarding the content they engage with.

Impact

Pupils at GGA use technology creatively to produce work across the curriculum. This can include coding games and animations; producing and editing film; presenting and manipulating data and for research purposes.

Pupils have a deep understanding of the pitfalls of internet use from inappropriate content to in-app purchasing and undesired contact but crucially also have the skills to protect themselves from such harms and respond to them appropriately.
