Design & Technology
DT
Intent
Through our Design and Technology curriculum, we aim to provide children with the necessary skills to prepare them for our rapidly changing world.
We aim to give children the confidence and ability to solve problems as a team or as individuals, to be able to manage risk and to work safely with a range of tools.
Implementation
Our DT curriculum is very broad takes and full advantage of our extensive grounds and specialist teaching.
Our curriculum goes beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum to build in Forest School teaching at every age range.

The Forest School elements also link closely to our approach to Food Technology which is designed to be seasonal and sustainable. We use our on-site polytunnel to grow our own plants and food which are sold via our social enterprise ‘Goldington Greens.’

Across the curriculum children learn to plan, design, make and evaluate their own ideas acquiring lifelong skills and knowledge.
Impact
DT, encompassing Forest School, has a high profile at GGA. In every year group pupils have the opportunity to make original products; learn in the outdoors; grow and cook food.
Children develop a love the for subject alongside knowledge and skills and frequently engage with DT outside of school and through clubs such as gardening.
